Its headquarters is located in Dumra, 5 kilometres from Sitamarhi, which is located in the southern part of Sitamarhi. Sitamarhi district is located in the north of Bihar. At this place, a tank was built by King Janak. Whose name we know by the name of Janaki Kund or Sita Kund, Sitamarhi has been a historical as well as a holy religious place since ancient times. This religious place is very important for Hindus because of the birth of Mother Sita at this place. It was named Sitamarhi and then this place became very popular as Sitamarhi. If we talk about Maa Janaki Temple, then this temple is one of the very famous religious places here, to see it, people come here not only from the country but also from all over the world. The reason was that Mithila King Janak went to the field and started ploughing. While ploughing, a small part of the soil came out from the earth, which was seen in the infant state of Sita, that is why it was named after the birth of Sita on this land. By connecting both Sita and Marhi, Sitamarhi was named. At a distance of about 3 kilometres from Sitamarhi station, a temple famous as Maa Janaki was built, which has been named Janaki Mandir.
This temple is located at a distance of about 4 kilometres from his birthplace and there is a beautiful lake behind the Janaki temple, which has been named Janaki Sarovar. If one bathes in the lake, he will definitely get a child, this is the belief of this lake, which is very popular. A significant temple was built near the birthplace of Sita ji, whose name is Punrayo, it is famous as Punrayo Temple, where A large number of devotees always come here to worship and offer prayers. Nepal is situated in the north of this district and Madhubani district is located in the east. Before 1972 AD, it used to be a part of Muzaffarpur, but then Later it was separated from Muzaffarpur on December 11, 1972 AD and a new district were formed, The name of that district was Sitamarhi and the name of the river flowing here is Jhim river which passes through the border of India and Nepal. Sitamarhi is a historical place to visit, which everyone must visit once. We should come to know this place also by the name of Sita Nagri. So this is a very stunning place.
